I received this press release today ( 20 May 05 from the Foxes Trust )

FOXES TRUST TO MAKE SIGNIFICANT FURTHER INVESTMENT IN LCFC

Recent changes to the senior management of LCFC have encouraged the Board of the Foxes Trust to make a further investment, in excess of £20,000, in Leicester City FC. The Trust makes this investment as an indication of its support in the future of Leicester City as articulated by City Manager Craig Levein when he spoke at the Trust’s AGM concerning the need to bring on younger players through the Club’s Academy system.

Trust Chairman Ian Bason said: “The Trust is committed to ensuring that the voice of the Fans can be heard, and acted on, at all levels in the club. This recent change will enable the Club to make sure that fans’ influence will be felt throughout the Club. We will continue to seek to work in partnership with Club as well as representing our members and LCFC fans generally. This change offers the real possibility of genuine consultation with supporters, and we welcome this.”

The Trust has also launched its 2005 Grand Raffle, and subject to all tickets being sold, this may also offer the opportunity for a further substantial investment in LCFC. Press Officer Steve Lewitt commented: “we were originally cautious about committing to this level of investment, but we believe that now the club will honour its promises to put the fan at the heart of the club. On our side we will therefore look to make this further investment.”

The Foxes Trust was formed in 2002 and came to prominence when it helped save Leicester City Football Club when it was in administration. It is now one of the largest Football Trusts in the UK and has shares in excess of £130,000 in Leicester City.

It is entirely separate from the management of Leicester City and any other supporters’ organisations. It exists to ensure that the problems which resulted in administration in 2002 do not recur, and to represent the City supporter and supporter interests at the highest levels within the management of the club.

I live in York just 100 miles from the Walkers Stadium. My aim for this website is to provide useful information for Leicester City fans who have to travel a distance to watch LCFC. I will also include reports of some of the games that I go to.

If you wish to stay overnight in Leicester for a game, I would highly recommend the Holiday Inn Express Hotel at the Walkers Stadium. This is situated directly opposite the ground and breakfast is included when you book there. I have stayed there on a number of occasions.

Being a City fan living away from Leicester can mean that going to the games is not as easy as jumping on a 617 bus from Syston anymore. The cost of my junior season ticket when I lived in Leicester will now get me to see about 3 games. When you add into that the cost of taking family, it can mean that trips can be few and far apart. The danger is that going can get you seriously bitten by the live bug again. But what it does mean is that when foxiles do get to Leicester on those special occasions it is special. I don't agree with the argument that being an armchair fan makes you any less of a fan.

I can remember back in 1970 giving my dad a detailed expanation as to why we had finished 3rd in the 2nd division, and not got promoted to to division 1, Huddersfield and Blackpool beating us up.

Must have made an impression though, as 12 months later, I got to go to Filbert Street to see the John Sjoberg testimonial match against Derby County which we won 1-0, and I saw us being presented with the division 2 championship trophy.

So started my city life, I was quite lucky as before my mum and dad moved to Syston, they lived at West Bridgford near to Forests ground. To think I might have missed the Orient day out to watch Larry May at Orient, instead having to win 2 European Cups with forest, I had a lucky escape there smile.gif

When I was at school, my dream was always for Leicester City to win the World Club Championship, my dream has not changed.

2005-06 Season.

I can't wait for the new season to start, I think that after last year things have to be better. I wish it was August 6th tomorrow !.

I look forward to a younger hungry team.

I go back to the Jock Wallace days, and whilst we didnt always win, we always had a go and ran to the end.

Craig Levein is building something good here, and I think we will come good, and have a good crack at this league.

IF we do go up, I think we will have done very well and it will be a real success on the record of Craig Levein, and the fact that if we get any success, it will have been on a lower budget and hungry players, will make it all the sweeter.

If it takes 2 years more years, so be it, I just want to see progress, we have to be patient and support him and the team to the maximum.

I read on the internet that somebody said could we ever do what Liverpool did last night ?,( Just won the Champions Legue 05)  the reply, which was quite realistic was along the lines that we couldn't. but we could have our own level of success .

I know you have to be realistic, and that we are currently a lower half of the championship team, the table doesn't lie, but I always believed that we should aim for the stars ! .

It was a different time, but Forest were no better than where we are now just a few years before they took on and won in Europe.

I think we are about the 10th largest city in England ? , no league teams competition for maybe 20 miles away, I believe that we should be aiming in the long run to be a top half team in the Premiership ! .

All this has to be built on small steps and solid foundations, this is what we have to do now, and we can do it.

Our aim has to be the best.

Bits of Foxiles News.

In my experience, one of the easiest ways to buy LCFC home and away tickets is by fax to the ticket office. ( See lcfc website for the number ) . I make payment by credit card and ask them to confirm the purchase by email to me. They immediately email me the order number of the tickets and my tickets arrive soon after in the post. In recent purchases for 2 adults and 1 child, I have been charged just £1.50 for credit card charges for the ticket purchase. When looking for tickets bought online through ticketweb on the LCFC website, charges were quoted as £9.00

BBC East Midlands BBC1 TV is broadcasting on Sky Channel 950, so you can watch the Sports News on their regional news shows. Turn onto it about 6.45pm weekdays.
